Pune: Kalanubhav Charitable Trust will be arranging a musical concert to commemorate the 1st Death Anniversary of legendary vocalist of Kirana gharana – Late Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav on coming Thursday, 7th May 2015. ‘Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav Sangeet Mahotsav’ will take place at Shakuntala Shetty Auditorium located at New Karnatak Highschool, Karve Nagar, Pune between 5.30pm to 9.00pm. The entry for this program will be free and it will be open for all. This information was provided today by Bharati Barhate, trustee of Kalanubhav Charitable Trust.
This program will revolve around a popular concept of Hindustani Sangeet – ‘Jugalbandi’. Pune’s very own upcoming Sarod player Sarang Kulkarni will perform along with his father and Guru Rajan Kulkarni. The duo will be accompanied by Nikhil Phatak on Tabla. In the second half of the program the renowned vocalists of Kirana Gharana – Anand Bhate and son and disciple of Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav – Pt. Kaivalyakumar will perform. They will be accompanied by Suyog Kundalkar on Harmonium and Prashant Pandav on Tabla. Both the vocalists will be sharing the stage together for the very first time to present a power packed Jugalbandi to viewers.
Kalanubhav Charitable Trust will also be awarding two artists in the memory of Late Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav. The first ‘Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav Smruti Puraskar’ will be presented to Anand Bhate for his remarkable contribution towards the field of Indian Classical Music. This award will comprise of a Citation, Memento and a Cash Prize of Rs.25,000/- The second award – ‘Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav Yuva Puraskar’ will be in the category of upcoming artist of Indian Classical Music and will be presented to Sarod Player – Sarang Kulkarni. It comprises of a Memento and a Cash Prize of Rs.15,000/- Both the awards will be given at the hands of Senior Tabla Exponent Pt. Suresh Talawalkar during this music concert.
Bharati Barhate, Chairperson of Kalanubhav Charitable Trust said,”we are indeed very happy to present this very 1st musical concert in the memory of Late Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav. We will be hosting this concert every year from now onwards. This trust is formed to provide guidance as well as to render a platform for the young people who want to cultivate and express their hobbies and arts. A proper guidance, support and a pat on the back will be given to young artists through this initiative. We shall try our best to present various forms of arts through this trust to Puneits.”
This musical concert organised by Kalanubhav Charitable Trust on Thursday, 7th May 2015 at Shakuntala Shetty Auditorium located at New Karnatak Highschool, Karve Nagar, Pune between 5.30pm to 9.00pm will surely enchant the viewers. The passes for this program will be available at the office of SEED Infotech located at Income Tax Lane, Prabhat Road, Pune. The viewers may please take a note that the passes are free of cost however are limited in numbers and few seats will be reserved for invitees only.
