New Delhi, 12th May 2017: Delhi Study Group led by Ex-Delhi MLA & President Vijay Jolly organized a public program to Honor & Felicitate Pahlaj Nihalani – Chairman, Central Board of Film Certification.
The program was organized at Constitution Club, New Delhi. Additional Solicitor General of India & DSG Patron Pinky Anand attended along with newly elected Delhi MLA Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
Floral tributes were offered to Late Bollywood movie star Vinod Khanna. Two minutes silence was observed in memory of the departed Delhi Study Group esteem member Vinod Khanna on the occasion.
In his welcome address Former Delhi MLA Vijay Jolly asserted that there is a urgent need to monitor & censor Indian movies to curb violence, vulgarity & sexuality. In the name of freedom of expression, Indian traditions cannot be mortgaged to western culture. Mr. Jolly while honoring CBFC Chairman Pahlaj Nihalani stated that PM Modi had entrusted a specific & holy-seat to Pahlaj. So the scissors of Central Board of Film Certification need to be sharpened to safe guard family values and younger generation in India & overseas stated Mr. Jolly.
Pahlaj Nihalani thanked Delhi Study Group for its warm welcome and felicitation. PM Modi is a modern Bahubali and who thinks & acts a decade ahead for his nation. Indian Central Board of Film Certification is never shy of the word “censor” stated Nihalani. We are driven by family values. Censorship is essential to curb explicit violence & vulgarity. Unlike previous CFBC Chairperson’s (in Congress rule), am a full time active & action packed Chairman asserted Pahlaj. Previously it was “paisa khaake picture pass” but now we ensure transparency, efficiency, no corruption & online certification. Corruption is a thing of the past stated Mr. Nihalani.
Newly elected MLA & Patron Delhi Study Group honored were Sardar M.S. Sirsa along with members recently elected MCD councilors namely Narendra Chawla, Shyam Sunder Aggarwal, Veena Sharma, Kailash Sankla, Ms. Himanshi Pandey, Sardar Autar Singh, Anita Singhal, Maya Bisht, Urmila Chaudhary, Chandra Prakash Yadav & Ms. Nitika Sharma were honored with shawls, bouquets & mementos.
Overseas Indian leaders Ms. Aisha Amjad (Australia Labor Party Leader), Mohan Singh Verma (OFBJP Norway & Scandinavian Chief), Taj Mohd. (Tajikistan OFBJP Chief), Smt. Krishna Pujara (UK Women Leader) & Canada media owner Rakesh Tiwari were felicitated. Program was compared by Vice President Bhupendra Kansal & Gen. Sec (Org.) Narendra Chawla.
