Pune: Pune being a hub in manufacturing for Auto and Ancillary and also having various Defence manufacturing companies and research institutes, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Maharashtra Ex Servicemen Corporation Ltd (MESCO) organised a Seminar on Make in India for Defence, in light of promoting Make in India.
The seminar aimed to provide platform to local Defence industry to experience the exhibits and offerings and look for opportunities to team up to target indigenisation.
Mr Manohar Parrikar, Hon’ble Minister of Defence, presented the key note address emphasising the honest efforts being out to fulfil the Prime Ministers vision of ‘Make In India”. He also made a mention of the proposed new land acquisition bill which has been framed in such a flawless way, with a clear intention of development for the nation.
“Government is absolutely committed to working on Make In India to ensure employment opportunities and creating growth story of India ,in India with the combined efforts of Government and Industry” Mr Manohar Parrikar.

The Seminar focused on the need of indigenisation and evolve teaming models to address critical areas through defence cooperation. It addresed the challenges faced by Indian defence forces for Life support for supplied products and Knowledge sharing platform for new technologies and harness opportunities in frugal engineering.
