Pune: Renowned classical dancing school ‘Shambhavi’s International School of Kathak’ (SISK) will celebrate its 16th Anniversary on Wednesday, August 24th at 5.30 pm at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyaguha in the city. Titled as ‘Kathakotsav’, this program will be honored with the presence of senior classical danseuse and Guru Manisha Sathe, Vidyavachaspati Dr. Shankar Abhyankar and MLA – Medha Kulkarni. This information was shared today by Tejaswini Sathe – Joint Director, SISK.
On this occasion Tejaswini Sathe will open the stage with her wonderful solo performance. She is a daughter in law and disciple of Maneesha Sathe. She will present Ashtapadi and Rudra Taal composed by Maneesha Sathe on this evening.
The evening will then present astonishing performances by 275 disciples of SISK who have become skilled at Kathak under the guidance and tutelage of their beloved Guru Tejaswini Sathe. They will present various dance performances like Bhajan, Taal, Sargam, Tarana, Zhula, Tivaat, Bandish, Gatabhav. Additionally, students will also perform on Hindi and Marathi poems, Stories, Naandi. Seasons of the year, Pralaya, will also be included as the contemporary topics for dance for Kathokotsav.
This evening will see performers like Isha Phadke, Bhakti Zalki, Sharvari Bhide, Neha Karve and Aishwarya Sane. They will be accompanied by Charudatta Phadke on Tabla, Rajiv Tambe on Harmonium, Nikhil Mahamuni on Synthesizer and Sunil Awachat on flute. The singers for the evening will be Aparna Kelkar, Suranjan Khandalkar and Arpita Vaishampayan. Vallari Apte will do Padhant for this evening and Manjiri Joshi will host this program. Light arrangements will be done by Harshawardhan Pathak and sound arrangements by Prashant Urankar for this evening.
The objective behind this program is to give equal chance of stage performance to every student of the dancing school. These performances will provide them with practice, experience and exposure to stage their dancing skills in future. It will also be an opportunity for the parents of the students to see them performing on the stage.
