Pacharia (Assam)/Kolkata: Emami Limited, the Indian FMCG major’s, 3rd manufacturing unit at Pacharia, Assam was formally inaugurated by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, today. The occasion was also graced by other eminent government dignitaries like Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Planning & Development, Health & Family Welfare, Education Government of Assam and Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Transport and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Assam. Shri R.S. Agarwal & Shri R.S. Goenka, Joint Chairman, Emami Group along with Shri Sushil Kumar Goenka, Managing Director of Emami Limited and other Directors represented the Company on the occasion.
Located at Pacharia in the Kamrup district of Assam and spread over 34 acres of land, the new plant of the Company is the largest production facility of Emami Limited in India.
This new facility of Emami Limited is a world-class facility which is designed to spread over a total planned floor area of over 50,000 sq.mt for a total production capacity of 90,000 MTPA. Raw material for the plant will be sourced both from indigenous and overseas locations as per the requirement. Total investment incurred for the new facility is over Rs 300 cr.
The Pacharia unit of Emami Limited is a GMP compliant facility equipped with international standard technology, which includes hi-end robotic machineries like automatic high-speed packing machine, automated tracking and monitoring systems, hi-end HVAC system, and the like, which have been procured from the best of international industrial vendors across the world.
The new unit with its state-of-the–art storage and handling facility will cater to all the distribution channels of Emami Limited spread across India. It is an energy efficient manufacturing plant with integrated energy management system, automated manufacturing process and material management, advanced data communication platforms and process friendly green environment.
Taking forward the legacy of Emami as a responsible corporate citizen, the Company is committed to undertake various CSR activities in and around its area of operation of the plant in the field of health, skill development, education, women empowerment and sanitation.
Speaking on the occasion of the plant inauguration, Shri. R.S Agarwal and Shri. R.S. Goenka, Joint Chairman, Emami Group said, “Assam has been our favourite destination for the past many years. We already have two of our units located at Abhoypur and Amingaon in Assam. We are thankful to the State Government of Assam for all their assistance extended to us for setting up our three plants over the years. Our future investments would be in line with the market demand and Assam, being an investor friendly destination, would always remain a preferred manufacturing location for Emami.”
Shri. Sushil Goenka, Managing Director, Emami Limited, added, “We have recently started commercial production from our new unit at Pacharia. The unit would be producing both personal care and healthcare brands manufactured by Emami. With the completion of this unit in Assam, our production capacity in the State has gone up to a total of 1.1 lacs MTPA. We are happy to mention that with the addition of our new unit at Pacharia, Emami has generated thousands of both direct & indirect employments in the region.
On this occasion, Emami Limited handed over a cheque amount of Rs 11 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Emami Limited has 8 manufacturing units across India including the new Pacharia unit. Facilities are located in the states of West Bengal, Assam, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli. The Company has 1 overseas unit in Bangladesh.

Speaking on this occasion, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam congratulated Emami for making a significant contribution to the industrialisation of Assam with the setting of another new plant here. Alike Emami, he urged all other investors to come to Assam and invest in the State. He further said that Assam will welcome all investors with a free mind and an open heart. He also expressed his happiness to have a home-grown company like Emami in Assam which today has earned a global reputation to reckon with.
Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Planning & Development, Health & Family Welfare, Education Government of Assam, said that, Emami’s setting up of 3 units in Assam is proof in itself of the bond that it shares with the State. Emami being a diversified business conglomerate, Dr. Biswa Sarma also urged the Group to consider Assam as an investment destination beyond FMCG manufacturing. He applauded Emami for promoting local employment and establishing a very healthy industrial environment in the region.
On this occasion, Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Transport and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Assam, said that Assam is the gateway to South East Asia and holds a lot of potential for business investors. He also informed about Assam ranking 4th among the States in India for ease of doing business. He thanked Emami for setting up its new manufacturing unit in Assam.
