Creaticity Festival is presenting The Black & Gold band featuring Mame Khan with authentic Sufi music but in a contemporary sounds cape to the audience of Pune this Sunday.
The Black & Gold’ band featuring Mame Khan will be accompanied by a Kathak performance by Rujuta Soman, an internationally acclaimed Kathak Dancer. The band incorporates traditional and contemporary form to create a complete visual delight to the urban audience.
Born and brought up in Manganiyar community of musicians in Rajasthan, traditional music has been part of Mame Khan’s life since childhood. His energy and his vocal skills owe much to the influence of his father and tutor, late Shri Rana Khan. He performs the oral tradition in a unique way which has been carried through fifteen generations. Today he sings a wide repertoire of traditional Folk- and Sufi songs. The special style of the Manganiyar Folk Music called Jangra includes a universe of songs for all occasions in life. Much acclaimed for his performance and style of music, Mame Khan has sung in popular Bollywood movies such as “No one Killed Jessica”, “Luck By Chance”, “I am” & “Mirzya”.
