Pune: Ferrero, the globally renowned chocolate and confectionary company has been recognized for excellence in People Empowerment at the Impresa Awards 2017. ICMQ India, a 100% subsidiary of Italian Certification Body ICMQ Spa after detailed verification of the contribution made by various companies, declared Ferrero India as the winner.
The entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit, which has characterized the Ferrero Group since its inception, has been the inspiring source of the Ferrero Social Enterprises, conceived and launched by Michele Ferrero, the founder of the company in India 10 years ago. The company was set up in India in 2007 and has its corporate head office at Pune and world class manufacturing plant at Baramati.
The People Empowerment Award winner, Ferrero India has demonstrated a strong commitment in recognizing the most relevant aspects affecting the employees and workers and their satisfaction in the areas of human rights, labour conditions and health & safety.
On receiving the award, Inder Chopra, Secretary General of Ferrero India said, “This is a great achievement for Ferrero India. The social enterprises operate with a social spirit and are designed to create jobs in the less advantaged areas and empower women and men with requisite skills. The employee strength of Ferrero in India is the third largest after Italy and Germany. This award recognizes and appreciates the good work done by Ferrero India to improve the standard of living of the people by empowering them.”
He added, “It gives me a special sense of satisfaction and happiness that Ferrero India is realizing the objectives set by late Michele Ferrero.”
The Impresa Awards aim at recognizing the efforts, approaches and results achieved by the Indo-Italian companies in India. The awards are promoted by Assocamerestero and ICMQ Istituto in collaboration with the Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce under its Make It Sustainable Ambassador manifesto. The Make it Sustainable certification scheme is developed by ICMQ – Istituto Certificazione Marchio Qualità and validated by the Trento University. Make It Sustainable is an International community which is token of the Italian traditional values of design, creativity, beauty, taste, aesthetic and quality combined with sustainability in its broad sense (economic, environmental and social).
Sustainable Development stands for meeting the needs of present generations without jeopardizing the ability of futures generations to meet their own needs – in other words, a better quality of life for everyone, now and for generations to come. It offers a vision of progress that integrates immediate and longer-term objectives, local and global action, and regards social, economic and environmental issues as inseparable and interdependent components of human progress.
