Part of global CSR initiative to promote active lifestyles among children
Pune, 11th June 2018: Ferrero India partnered with Poona Club Golf Course to promote Kinder + Sport “Joy of Moving” program. The event was held on Sunday, 10th June and close to 40 children participated in the Poona Club Golf Junior tournament. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Stefano Pelle, Managing Director of Ferrero India.
Commenting on the partnership Mr. Pelle said “We are elated to be associated with Poona Club Golf Course. With this tie up we are expanding the Kinder+ Sport ‘Joy of Moving’ program to Pune. To broaden golf’s appeal, we are encouraging young children to play the game of golf and we are pleased with the overwhelming response.”
Mrs Manisha Jaitha, Lady Captain Poona Club Golf Course said “We are excited to be associated with Ferrero India. This association will take the game of golf to the next level amongst young children..”
The Kinder+ Sport “Joy of Moving” program was launched in India in 2014 at Baramati, near Pune, as part of the Ferrero Group global CSR initiative to promote active lifestyles among children. So far 5 Kinder + Sport camps have been held successfully and over 2000 children have participated from various schools. In the first week of June 2018, the 5th Kinder+ Sport camp was held at the Vidya Pratisthan School in Baramati and over 400+ children participated in the camp. Kinder+Sport recently partnered with the ISF World Schools Badminton Championship 2018 edition which was held in April at the Balewadi stadium, Pune. Kinder+ Sport partnership with International Sports Federation (ISF) has been a long standing relationship, sharing globally values of friendship, fair play and fun since 2005.
The Kinder+Sport “Joy of moving” program is an international Ferrero Group Social Responsibility Project that aims to bring the joy of moving into the life of every child.
The project promotes and encourages physical activity across the younger generations, inspiring children and young people all over the world to adopt active lifestyles from an early age, so that this becomes an integral part of their daily routine.
Kinder+Sport’s ambitious goal is to increase and improve the time that young people spend on physical activity, bringing the project to as many countries as possible. This is done in collaboration with qualified partners and experts such as various Institutions, 4 Olympic Committees, 126 Sports Federations and Associations, and the prestigious ISF (International School Sport Federation), that organize and promote games and competition between schools around the world.
The program supports physical education programs, provides schools with technical equipment, promotes student championships, supports sports events for children, organizes multi-disciplinary campuses to involve children in sports, cooperates with athletes and former champions as “ambassadors” of active lifestyles and supports research projects aimed at increasing awareness of the benefits of an active life.
First established in 2005, the project has grown steadily ever since, with the aim of reaching out to the highest possible number of children and teenagers all over the world. Kinder+ Sport works on a global scale involves 28 countries and gets about 5 million children moving every year. Kinder+ Sport project involves talented boys and girls through over 3200 events globally including different sports disciplines, among which volleyball, basketball, soccer, athletics, swimming, fencing, skiing, water polo, sailing, handball, dodge ball, badminton. 1443 athletes, champions and former champions, 4 Olympic committees and 126 Sports Federations and Associations are involved in sports events for promoting healthy life styles So far over 40 million children worldwide have been part of this initiative.
