INDIA, 14th February, 2017: Talk about a perfect Valentine’s postcard! If you were stressing about how to put your feelings out there, this skydive trio’s done it for all of us. Cupid’s arrow has never looked so smoking hot.
The idea to fly in formation over a heart-shaped island made Amy Chmelecki, Marco Fürst, and Marco Waltenspiel fly from different (and distant) parts of the world to the heart of Croatian coast. Of course, not without its challenges, as little as a lost luggage in the shape of Amy’s equipment. But what’s that for a girl with over 16 000 skydives?! She did the project with the borrowed equipment from the local skydiving crew.
“One of my favorite things to do in this world is to fly over beautiful places, so this project was extremely special to me! Croatia was everything I dreamt it would be. We were very lucky with the weather conditions, but the hard part was the equipment I was not familiar with, especially because the landing area was a difficult one. In the end, everything worked out great! The equipment lent to me was easy to manage and the local crew even packed my parachute for me!” says Amy.
Forming an arrow over an island is not an easy job, especially if there’s someone up there trying to catch that on the camera. Take into consideration the one day of perfect weather caught during winter, and the fact that the days are really short at the time. The famous local bura wind chased away all the clouds, but made the crew freeze while trying to get that perfect shot.
“It was cold, and the wind was strong, but it was an awesome day without a cloud in the sky. What an incredible flight over this beautiful scenery, with so many small islands circling the heart-shaped beauty.” Says Marco Waltenspiel of the Red Bull Skydive Team.
This beautiful gem called Galešnjak is mostly known as the Island of Love. Since it was first discovered by the foreign media, the island owner’s phone doesn’t stop ringing. Apparently everyone wants to get married there. To reach the island full of lovely olive trees you just need a short ride through the sky blue waters of the Mediterranean.
As Amy says: “After all, what better way to spend a day than jumping over lovely islands with your friends and teammates.”
