Islamabad: In a big jolt to Pakistan, Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed has claimed that terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was behind the violent protests in Kashmir Valley in the aftermath of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s killing in an encounter by Indian security forces.
The JuD chief claimed that a LeT militant led the processions in Kashmir Valley following the killing of Wani in Srinagar, India Today reported.
“Have you seen the pictures of procession when lakhs of Kashmiris came to the streets? Did you see a man who was being carried on shoulders by the crowd? Do you know the man who was leading the procession? He is an ‘ameer’ of Laskar-e-Toiba (LeT),” Hafiz Saeed said.
Hafiz’s statements accusing LeT of fuelling tension in Kashmir came at a time when Pakistan is trying hard to gain solidarity with the people over the unrest in the region.
Saeed’s remarks negate Pakistan’s position on Kashmir protests, while it also exposes the hypocrisy of its foreign ministry at an international level.
On the other hand, Saeed’s remark also confirms the involvement of Pakistan-based militant groups in anti-India protests in Kashmir.
“Several people from Faisalabad went to Kashmir, many of them even sacrificed their lives,” Hafiz Saeed added.
Reiterating Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s speech, he said, “Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir and by God’s grace, Kashmir will become a part of it someday”.
“One day the world would witness India splitting into pieces,” he added.
Upping his ante against the Indian media, Saeed expressed his anger over visa denial to a group of Pakistani doctors who wanted to visit Kashmir.
