09 June, 2017: HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Ltd. has been authorized by the Government of Maharashtra to implement Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) for Loanee and non loanee farmers of Orange, Sweet Orange (Mosambi), Sapota, Guava & Pomegranate Mrig Bahar in FY 2017-18. The RWBCIS will be implemented for above crops in Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal, Pune, Beed, Jalgaon, Washim, Palghar, Buldhana & Hingoli districts by HDFC ERGO General insurance Company. All the products under RWBCIS are approved by the Department of Horticulture, Government of Maharashtra.
The RWBCIS offers insurance cover against losses of farmers due to aberrant weather conditions during the crop cycle i.e. flowering to harvesting stage of fruit. For the last date for cover under this scheme, kindly refer to the notification on Department of Horticulture website.
The claim amounts will be settled on the basis of data taken from reference weather stations mentioned in the Scheme and managed by independent third party organization.
