Washington: Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump won their respective party nominations yesterday and are preparing for a battle which is globally awaited with bated breath.
Overwhelmed with her own struggle for the past 3 decades and the final victory, Hillary said, “I was overwhelmed. I was worried that… the emotion of the moment would be so intense that I might have trouble getting through the speech itself. So I did have to collect myself and try to get prepared.”
However, she has more to overcome. And in a bid to do that, she made a fresh appeal to supporters of her self-declared Democratic socialist rival Bernie Sanders, pledging that they should fight together against Donald Trump.
“I believe a lot of Senator Sanders’ supporters will join us in making sure Donald Trump doesn’t get anywhere near the White House.”
However, Sanders has other intentions and he has refused to capitulate, vowing to continue the fight to the final Democratic primary in the capital Washington to be held next week and then to the democratic convention in July.
However, Clinton’s last ray of hope is Barack Obama, who will be meeting Sanders.
Meanwhile, the battle of words between Trump and Clinton continues. While the former accused the latter of fishy activities in the name of Clinton Foundation, the latter prepares for a face off in the final leg next week with all relevant documents. We had absolutely overwhelming disclosure,” Clinton said, defending a charity that helps the vulnerable at home and across the world.
She further added, “I will put that up against any of the innuendo and accusation coming from Donald Trump because the work that’s been done has garnered accolades and appreciation from every corner of the world.”
Clinton will be campaigning in Ohio and Pennsylvania next Monday and Tuesday and Trump would be announcing stopovers in Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and elsewhere in the south. Clinton will make ways to touch the right chords of the moderate Republicans who have been turned off by Trump. He too has left no stones unturned and has extended an olive branch to Sanders’ supporters.
