The industry and academia collaboration for ‘Make in India’ – Nischay 2015 organized by Vishwakarma Institutes was held on 3rd July, 2015 at The Westin Hotel, Koregaon Park.
More than 120 Delegates from 78 different companies were present , which included Thermax, Forbes Marshal, Rohan Builders , Raje-Bhate constructions, Emerson ,Aker Solutions, Accenture, Mahindra, Oracle, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, L&T and many others graced the meet.
Mr. Bharat Agarwal, Chairman of Vishwakarma institutes welcomed the delegates and updated about the various institutes under the banner of Vishwakarma group. In his welcome articulate, he cited about the several National and International collaborations the institute has, few of which include TIFR, nVidia and IFMI. He talked about the achievements of the students of the institutes in various fields of education and sports.
The keynote speech for the meet was given by Mr.S.K.Kulkarni, MD Accenture who gave an insight on the diverse factors which will help ‘Make in India’ become a big accomplishment. His presentation stressed the importance of change in client expectations, simplification of the work, how to think differently and the utmost recipe – Think global, Act local. Mr. Kulkarni’s presentation and videos were the focal point of the meet which lead towards important thought that Only Challenges in life will lead to innovation.
The first panel discussion for the day – ‘Opportunities for engineers in Make in India’ was moderated by Mr. Shirish Chaphekar, Director Emerson. The panel included professionals who were M. Shailesh Oak,Siemens, Ms. Megha Kapil, Oracle, Mr. Yogesh More,ADP, Mr. Sachin Gulhane, Cognizant, Mr.Ramani Iyer, Forbes Marshall, Mr. Devendra Bora, Thermax, Mr. Celsus Victor, Tejas Networks . The discussion intrigued the assembled delegates and voluted from facts of Industries to what huge difference an innovative techie can bring about to this befall. The IT megacorp took the Centre stage and accentuated about the 18 lakh job opportunities for engineers in coming years in 25 different sectors.
The moderator for the second panel discussion – ‘Skillset required for engineers in Make in India’ was Mr. Vishwas Upadikar, President Wavelet group. The discussion saw the indulgence of panelists like, Mr. Prashant Karandikar, L&T InfoTech ,Mr. Abhay Patil, Harbinger, Mr. Kaustubh Bhadhabhade, Persistent, Mr. Shekhar Kamble, TCS, Mr. Sandeep Dabhade, Alcatel Lucent, Mr. Harish Maheshwari, Texas Instruments and Mr. Jayant Joshi, Tech Mahindra. The discussion rolled from innovation, creativity in engineers to inculcation of spirit of entrepreneurship. The discussion required the upcoming engineers to become more conformable and malleable. The meet introduced the assembled students and delegates to many contemporary and cutting edge platforms. The discussions also witnessed effective participation and deliberation of students, teachers and delegates.
In the closing ceremony, Mr. B. B. Lohiya, Member of governing body, VIT. Thanked all the HR delegates for the recommendations, assistance and encouragement. The meet identified the challenges, key issues and the best practices to be accomplished and applied.
