MCCIA has taken initiative to launch three new verticals in enhancing Skill Development and Entrepreneurship efforts. The following new facilities are being launched at the Chamber.
Apprenticeship Facilitation Center
India has enormous potential to improve the availability of skilled manpower for various industry segments through apprenticeship. The Central Government has been taking several initiatives through which it aims at adding 5 million employable youth to the workforce by 2019-20. During the Press Conference, Mr. Pramod Chaudhari, President MCCIA said, “As a step in this direction, MCCIA will promote Apprenticeship more rigorously and will start the Apprenticeship Facilitation Centre at MCCIA, Bhosari in association with Aspire Knowledge and Skills India (P) Ltd. Under the guidelines of NAPS, the Apprenticeship Training comprises of Basic training and On-the-job Training/Practical Training at workplace in the industry. The basic training will be imparted at MCCIA and for the On-the-job training/Practical training; manufacturing companies from amongst the MCCIA membership and others will be identified”.
Dr. Anant Sardeshmukh, Director General, MCCIA added, “Under this arrangement, MCCIA will be providing the necessary infrastructure for setting up the Centre at MCCIA, Bhosari. MCCIA will be promoting Apprenticeship training amongst its members including SMEs. MCCIA will also provide industry leads and in selection of establishments from its members. Chamber will also help in trade identification based on industry needs and also identify subject matter experts for training. Post training, MCCIA would facilitate employment of the suitable candidates”.
Facility for Psychometric Testing of Entrepreneurship Potential
In another initiative to foster the spirit of Entrepreneurship, MCCIA and Jnana Prabodhini Samshodhan Sanstha (JPSS) will be jointly conducting a Psychometric Test to assess the entrepreneurship aptitude and potential. The Test is known as “The BEAM Test”. This program will be promoted, communicated and arranged by MCCIA through its suitable means and channels. The test will be administered by the trained faculty from JPSS following the standard procedures of psychological test administration. Each group will be monitored by two psychologists. After the test, a report will be given to the individual and a personal session explaining the report will be held. The objective is to help aspiring entrepreneurs to recognize their entrepreneurial traits and aptitude and help them to take the necessary steps to harness their entrepreneurial skills.
Professional Certificate Course Students in association with Colleges
To ensure that undergraduate students are given opportunities and exposure to professional courses, MCCIA has launched a professional certificate course in International Trade for College Students. This will be followed by other certificate Courses. This course contains 30 hours of Classroom Training imparted by professionals and an onsite visit to a dry port or an export oriented unit. Dr. Anant Sardeshmukh, Director General MCCIA said, ‘”The course gives opportunities to students to join as interns based on the certification. The first certificate course has been launched at MES Garware College for its BBA students. First batch was conducted during the month of February 2018 comprising of 40 students. MCCIA will continue conducting this course at MES – Garware College and also plans on conducting other professional courses at other Colleges”.
On the occasion an MOU was signed between Jnana Prabodhini Samshodhan Sanstha (JPSS) for Psychometric Testing of Entrepreneurship Potential and with Aspire Knowledge and Skills India (P) Ltd for Apprenticeship Facilitation Center.
