New Delhi: On a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former PM Manmohan Singh launched a scathing attack on each other, they met each a few hours later.
Singh called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at latter’s official residence, 7 Race Course Road, on Wednesday evening.
Interestingly, Manmohan Singh’s visit to Modi’s residence came a day after the latter completed one year in office.
Earlier, Modi had driven to Singh’s current residence at Motilal Nehru Road on May 27, 2014, exactly a year ago.
Modi had visited Manmohan, a day after assuming charge as PM on May 26, 2014.
This was apparently the first time that Manmohan Singh had gone to RCR to meet PM.
Though, the purpose of the visit was not revealed, PM Modi expressed his happiness at meeting the former occupant of the same residence.
“Very happy to meet Dr. Manmohan Singh ji and welcome him back to 7RCR. We had a great meeting”, the Prime Minister said in a tweet.
The pictures of Modi warmly receiving Singh at the porch of the house and later seated together were also released by the prime minister’s office.
The warmth between the two was apparent in the official pictures released despite an attack on each other a few hours earlier.
Earlier in the day Manmohan Singh had hit out at the NDA government saying they were “harping” on corruption to divert people’s attention to non-issues and the NDA government was merely repackaging schemes.
Modi in a separate interview to a news agency at talked about extra-constitutional authority over the last government. Even BJP had launched a scathing attack on Manmohan Singh saying he was a puppet PM.
Modi who has completed one year in office has been on thanksgiving spree. After he met PMO officials and BJP employees on Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi invited all officials and staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, for high tea, on the occasion of completion of one year in office.
“The Prime Minister said that the entire PMO family shares the credit for the success that has been achieved in serving people over the past year. Narendra Modi said that a sensitive and humane approach was needed in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Prime Minister’s Office,” the official statement said.
The Prime Minister met various officials, and posed for group photographs with them.
