Mrs Aparna Sharma the author of “Reality Bytes” and country head of Lafarge touches this very fine line in her book with the different strokes of What? and Why?.

Speaking with NRINEWS about the book and opportunities in HR as a career, Mrs. Sharma says, “HR will need to understand more about the line of business they service, while the senior and top management will need to develop more understanding about HR practises”
Sharing with us about the book Mrs Sharma added, “Reality Bytes is crafted and designed with What ? and Why? of HR. The book will be a part of a university curriculum from next year (university name to be announced). This book is of great use to beginners, intermediate and pros as it deals with real time issues and supported with cases to better understanding. Its a recommended read for corporate professionals in HR, up and coming management people, sr. management and entrepreneurs.”
Commenting on the career options and scope of the human resource professionals Mrs. Sharma added, “HR is no longer a profession of the fairer sex. Human resource has evolved strongly as an integral part of the professional and corporate lifestyles. The HR culture efficiently manages the logical and emotional components in business. Its a fact that the HR and employees live a love-hate relation in business”.
As we discussed further about the role of an HR in the organisation and the career opportunities Mrs. Sharma said, “An HR professional needs to conduct themselves very justly. They come with professional powers to effect appraisals or corrections”.
She shared with us her 3C’s formula of being a successful HR. “Competent, Connect, Care”. Adding more to this she said, “The HR needs to conduct their professional responsibilities ad duties in all fairness and by being just. It is essential that they are authentic and evolve out of the check box approach. It is very important for them to connect with their teams and people around with authentic care. People are logical and carry emotions, the HR must have the ability to connect with an emotional understanding yet be fair and just in their disposition of job responsibility. This makes HR a position of great importance as they acquire and nurture talent, skills and knowledge. There is a very fine line of understanding which the HR needs to discover and be with.”
When asked about opportunities in HR as a career Mrs. Sharma says, “HR career is definitely evolving as an equal opportunity space. It brings good rewards in salaries”. She further added, “In India salaries still rise year on year by 2 digits, though I foresee a correction in coming 3 to 5 years.”
Speaking more about the HR career needs Mrs. Sharma added, “HR is an integral and active component of the business. HR needs to acquire and enhance their knowledge in the line of business they service.”
She further added, “Today HR skills are no longer restricted to HR professionals. Management professionals, entrepreneurs all are needed to evolve their learning and understanding of HR to bring success and excel. Doing this the professional connect better with human resources and can create an aura of influence to derive better performance and success stories.
Definitely the human resource is a packet of skills, knowledge in a bubble of logic and emotions with the HR management professionals as their mentors. In other words HR professionals are similar to Mom&Dad in business as being Competent, Connect and Care, they have to be authentic and just, understand emotions, show care, while mentoring and bringing approvals and corrections.
