Visiting BJP Leaders meet Sri Lanka Foreign Minister Demand Resumption of Dialogue between TNA & Govt.

Colombo (Sept 19, 2014): Visiting Indian BJP leaders at Colombo Muralidhar Rao National BJP General Secretary and Vijay Jolly Global Convenor BJP Overseas Affairs today met Foreign Affairs Minister of Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka Mr. G.L. Peris.

In an half an hour long meeting at Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry, the BJP leaders appreciated the efforts of Govt of Sri Lanka to effectively combat terrorism and establishing peace in this SAARC Island nation.

The BJP leaders Muralidhar Rao & Vijay Jolly also demanded the immediate resumption of political dialogue between Tamil National Alliance leaders and Govt of Sri Lanka on various issues confronting the Tamil Diaspora there. The issue of  the pending 13th Amendment as promised by Sri Lanka govt earlier also needs immediate redressal. This is of paramount importance for lasting peace in Sri Lanka conveyed visiting BJP leaders Muralidhar & Jolly to External Affairs Minister of Sri Lanka.

To safe guard the interests of Indian Fishermen including release of their trawlers, evolving maritime mechanism between India & Sri Lanka, promotion of Buddha & Ram Ayodhya religious circuit for increased tourism along with  strengthening of cultural & historical bonds between the citizens of two nations were roundly stressed by BJP leaders in their interaction with Sri Lanka Minister P.L. Peris at Colombo.  

It may be recalled that BJP is participating at the ICAPP ( International Conference of Asian Political Parties ) meeting at Colombo attended by 42 nations and nearly 360 political parties from 19th to 21st Sep 2014 at Colombo, Sri Lanka.
