BJP to Sri Lanka Re-Start Dialogue with TNA

Colombo (Sept 20, 2014): BJP leaders Muralidhar Rao National BJP General Secretary and Vijay Jolly Global Convener BJP Overseas Affairs Saturday met President of Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka H.E Mahinda Rajapaksha at the Presidential Palace in Colombo. The meeting lasted nearly 45 minutes between the visiting BJP leaders & Hon'ble  President.  And a wide range of issues relating to Tamil diaspora were discussed in a free & fair manner. The President warmly greeted the BJP leaders and accepted a BJP Lotus Symbol necklace presented to him.

The Hon'ble President Mahinda Rajapaksha politely told the visiting Indian BJP leaders that he deliberately did not wish Narendra Modi Happy Bithday on 17th Sep 2014, because he did not want to disturb Mr Modi during the same time visit of President of China to Gujarat, India. But shall wish belated happy birthday to Indian Prime Minister at United Nations soon conveyed H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksha to Shri Rao & Shri Jolly .

BJP leaders Muralidhar Rao & Vijay Jolly at the meeting stressed that Dialogue with Tamil  National Alliance should be restarted immediately. It is vital for lasting peace in Sri Lanka . The settlement of the pending Tamil issues need to be resolved within the frame work of Sri Lanka Constitution stated BJP leaders  Rao & Jolly to the President of Sri Lanka.

The role and stance of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the concept of "Sabka Sath-Sabka Vikas" was repeatedly stressed by BJP leaders in their friendly advise to the Sri Lanka Govt. on the vexed Tamil question.

On the issue of fishermen the BJP leaders appreciated the recent move of Sri Lanka Govt to release the arrested Indian Fishermen but also demanded the release of trawlers  seized in the operations. The need for a New Maritime Indo-Lankan policy be evolved to solve this re- current problem of Indian and Lankan fishermen to the satisfaction of all was also stressed at this meeting. It is in the interests of fishermen of both the nations. And is should be resolved thru humanistic approach  and with specific employment angle stated BJP leaders Mr. Rao & Mr Jolly.

Promoting Religious and Cultural Tourism between India & Sri Lanka evoked consensus on both sides. Buddhist Circuit trail in India and Hindu Ayodhya Circuit trail in Sri Lanka shall promote rich cultural -heritage of both the nations. It shall strengthen Goodwill and Friendship among the citizens of both the countries was loudly echoed by the visiting BJP leaders at Colombo.

It may be recalled that BJP leaders Muralidhar Rao and Vijay Jolly are currently participating in the Asian Political Parties conference attended by 41 Nations and 360 Political Parties of Asia in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The President of Sri Lanka innagurated the conference while H.E.Abdulla Yamen Abdul Gayoom President of Maldives attended along with Leader of Opposition in Sri Lanka H.E Ranil Wickremasinghe.
