Lions chartered new chapter, Menlo Park Lions Club in Edison

Edison (Oct 21, 2014): Lions Clubs International chartered their new chapter, Menlo Park Lions Club, in Edison on October 17, 2014. A diverse group of 30 compassionate individuals were inducted in the charter presentation ceremony attended by more than 120 Lions dignitaries and well-wishers at Akbar Restaurant in Edison on Friday evening.

During the ceremonies, Past International Director and Area Membership coordinator Lion Edward Lecius presented the members of new club with their official charter. He was delighted to see such a young group of dedicated individuals taking their first steps in community service. State membership coordinator Lion Melvyn Bray was on hand to install the club officers. District Governor Mahesh Chitnis administered the oath of service to the inducted members. Members of Edison Visionary Lions Club, who sponsored the formation of the Menlo Park Lions Club, were also present to congratulate members of the new club.

“I am proud to welcome these men and women into Lions. New Jersey will be proud to have such a fine group serving their community,” said District Governor, Mahesh Chitnis. President of Edison Visionary Lions Club Lion Sarvesh Dharayan pledged his support to newly born Menlo Park Lions Club. 

“The Menlo Park Lions Club plans to become involved with awareness of Autism and will also focus on Mental and physical health of our youth and families” said Lion Varsha Naik, newly installed president of Menlo Park Lions Club.

Several community leaders including Pradip Kothari, Atma Singh, Harkesh Thakur, Colonel Tavathia, Seema Jagatiani, Ashok Ojha congratulated newly elected members.  Council Chair Winster Ceballos, Past Governor from Toronto Lion Paul Baker,  Past Governors Lion Bob Brandt, Lion Jim Dougherty, Lion Tony Abano, Vice Governors Carlos Alma and Jack Romano, Zone Chairs Lion Rina Bajpai and Lion Armando Guerra, District Leadership coordinator Lion Anu Chitnis also graced the occasion. Promella Suri (President of Indian Club in UN), Prakash Patil (Renowned Model) and Rajeev Khinchi (Bollywood Choreographer) were special guests.
