Param Gill wins Best Director Award USD 100000 at San Francisco


The 22nd edition of San Francisco Global Movie Festival announced the jury awards for competition section of the festival which ran from 15-17 August.

Param Gill was in a unique situation with his Hollywood and Bollywood film competing against each other at the film festival. DOA: DEATH OF AMAR won the Audience Choice Award and Best Score. LAST SUPPER won in five categories including best director for Param Gill. The award comes with a cash prize of USD 100000. When Param was asked what he will do with this money, he replied with a straight face," I live and breathe films, I will make another movie".

DOA: Death of Amar is a fast paced suspense thriller about a struggling actor marked for death. This is his first Bollywood film produced by Remo D'Souza Entertainment. Critics and audience were bowled over by the solid performance of Rajeev Khandelwal in the film which will open in India later this year. Param remarked, "Rajeev is a very intense actor and this film fully exploits his talent. That's why the audience loved the film besides Bollywood makes very few suspense thrillers". India Post gave "3 thumbs up, the film with best score in years, unbearable suspense, adrenaline rush and Rajeev Khandelwal in a knock out role".

Param started his career in America with "Rockin Meera" in 2009 which played at several film festivals and was acclaimed for its huge canvas. He followed it up with a thriller, Hotel Hollywood which recovered its budget on the first day of release. LAST SUPPER is his third film in Hollywood which is set for Thanksgiving 2014 release in North America. He is next developing a new Bollywood project which will roll in October.
