Song titled ‘Tu Hai Jahaan Hai Aasman’ written by Javed Akhtar features music from AR Rahman’s Academy

Mumbai (Dec. 08, 2014): Ashutosh Gowariker’s EVEREST has been the talk of the town for many reasons – and one of the greatest reasons is the list of talent associated with the show. This month, Ashutosh has added another name to the list by bringing in none other than the maestro of lyrics and poetry – Javed Akhtar – to pen down the lyrics for a song that will be featured in the show.

News has it that Ashutosh met Javed Akhtar to give him a short brief about the show and Javed ji immediately agreed to get associated with the show. The story of Anjali and her journey for self-discovery was the theme shared with Javed ji for the song. Titled ‘Tu hai Jahaan Hai Asmaan’ the song is an Ode to EVEREST and has been written keeping in mind the scale of the show and the personal struggle of Anjali, the protagonits. The music for the track has been provided by AR Rahman’s music Academy – Q K Co.

Said Javed Akhtar, ““My inspiration in penning down the words for this song lie in many things. The first reason is the Mt. Everest itself because as a child, I have often been awestruck with it. Also, my association with Ashutosh goes back many years and it is always a wonderful experience working with him. Lastly, and most importantly, the story of Anjali is a very powerful one as it addresses the issue of women empowerment. It is in Anjali’s motivation that I found my inspiration to write this song.”

Lyrics to the song (main Mukhda)

“Tu hai jahan hai aasmaan
Main hoon is zameen pe yahaan
Humko par milna to hai
Kitni bhi ho ye dooriyan
Kitni bhi ho majbooriyan
Woh ho ke rahega, ke hona jo hai”

EVEREST airs on STAR Plus, every Monday to Saturday at 10PM
