Chef Gaurav Malhotra appointed as Executive Chef for Novotel Pune
Pune (Dec. 01, 2014): Chef Gaurav Malhotra, a Punjabi by origin and a Mumbaikar at heart, has travelled places for his love for food before attaining his new position as Executive Chef at Novotel Pune.
Having spent his last decade in Mumbai, London & China; Chef Gaurav played a key role being in the pre-opening teams of flagship properties like Holiday Inn Mumbai and Sofitel Mumbai BKC.Being with Accor for past four years, Chef brings over 13 years of wealthy experience to Novotel Pune.His last assignment with Sofitel Macau was a stepping stone for his career which has left an impressionable influence on him, one that he is excited to share with Pune’s rising dining scene.
Inspired to be a Chef by some of the finest Chefs in the world; Chef Gaurav started his career with TajPalace & Towers hotel in Mumbai, after completing his Diploma in Hotel Management from Sophia Polytechnic College and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Mumbai. During his career in London he got an opportunity to work with some of the renowned brands like The Kensington Close Hotel & Spa, Center Parcs.
Being a key member in achieving HACCP certification for Sofitel Macau; Chef Gaurav won a Level 2 award in Food Safety & Catering from Chartered Institute of Environmental health, London.He was also a winner of Silver Award in the Hotelympia Salon Culinnaire, at The Hospitality Show 2008 in Excel, London. Chef Gaurav won several accolades at The Wessex Salon Culinaire at Hotel & Catering Exhibition in Bournemouth, UK.
Chef Gaurav will continue to leverage Novotel Pune’s renowned food quality & service and envisions bringing cutting-edge creativity to the menus, especially for the young palette and the social banqueting guests in Pune. He believes he has got an asset of an existing team of talented Chefs serving delectable food with passion and willingness to explore new boundaries.
Chef Gaurav’s culinary vision will guide all of Novotel Pune’s food and beverage – including the signature all day dining restaurant The Square, specialty restaurant Fuzion offering international delicacies with a creative twist, Crust – the Patisserie & Deli, Soak– an open air poolside lounge and Bar-Code the lobbybar.
