Oman Air voted "World’s Leading Airline – Economy Class 2014" at World Travel Awards

London (Jan. 06, 2014): Oman Air, the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, has been voted “World’s Leading Airline – Economy Class 2014” at World Travel Awards.

Since commencing operations in 1993, Oman Air has played a major role in transforming Muscat into a major traffic hub and serving as a catalyst for commercial, industrial and tourism activities.

Oman Air’s fleet consists of modern and fuel-efficient aircraft with aesthetically-designed interiors. This was acknowledged in May when the airline was voted “Middle East’s Leading Airline – Business Class 2014” and “Middle East’s Leading Airline – Economy Class 2014” at World Travel Awards.

Ultra-modern in-flight service equipment is deployed on-board to improve safety and overall performance. Investment in new technology, planning and product innovation has propelled Oman Air to the forefront of the aviation industry.

Oman Air stands tall with a list of achievements to its credit. It is the first airline in the Gulf to introduce the brand new Boeing NG 737 aircraft series. Its safety record is a matter of pride. It has excellent on-time performance – OTP exceeding 95% and is striving to better its track record.

The national flag carrier has embarked on a major three-year expansion programme, which will take the fleet of the Muscat-based carrier to around 50 aircraft by 2018, and will include Boeing 737-900s, Airbus A330s and Boeing B787 Dreamliners.
