National Cadet Corps celebrates 66th Anniversary
New Delhi (Nov. 22, 2014): National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world, raised in 1948, is celebrating its 66th anniversary on 23 Nov 2014 with traditional fervour. At headquarters level, the raising day function was marked by paying homage at the Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate to the martyrs of the Indian Defence forces who made the supreme sacrifice. Wreaths are laid on behalf of 17 Directorate of the NCC, Cadets, Associated NCC Officers and the three services. Lt Gen Aniruddha Chakravarty, Driector General NCC and selected cadets laid wreath on behalf of the entire NCC fraternity, today. A tree plantation drive is also being undertaken by the NCC Cadets along with 132 TA Battalion (Eco) Rajput at Asola Wildlife Sanctuary, Chattarpur.
The NCC raising day is also celebrated in the state capitals, where cadets participate in march past, cultural activities and social development programmes.
NCC has always been at the forefront of contribution towards social causes and community development activities. The cadets in the past have done the nation and the organisation proud by their achievements in the field of sports and adventure and have own laurels in the National Shooting and Equestrian competitions.
