Successful firing of Prithvi-II missile; PM Modi congratulates DRDO scientists

Brisbane (Nov.12, 2014): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated the scientists of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) after the successful test firing of the tactical surface-to-surface short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) Prithvi - II earlier in the day.

Currently in Australia to attend the G-20 Summit, the Prime Minister took to twitter to express his delight over the success.

""I congratulate the hard work of our scientists that has been instrumental in the successful test fire of Prithvi-II missile," he wrote.

Developed by the DRDO under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program, the Prithvi-II missile, one of five indigenous missiles being developed in India, is capable of carrying nuclear warheads and has a strike range of 350 kilometres.
