CII Pune organizes the 6th edition of HR & IR Conclave


Pune (Sept 26, 2014): Speaking at the inaugural session of 6th edition of HR & IR conclave Mr Suhas Baxi, Past Chairman, CII Pune Zonal Council & Member Advisory Board, kPoint Technologies Pvt. Ltd said that technology evolution is the new mantra of the 21st century and it is technology which will take business to the next level. The effective use of technology is also transforming HR’s role within the organisation and its ability to deliver strategic impact. Whether it is using new talent acquisition channels like social media or automating the current payroll operations, technology is constantly evolving the HR processes.  The need of the hour is to identify processes which can be efficiently managed with the use of technology and enable HR to make an impact in the board room. Organisations that can virtualise their training component have reduced in their training cost, he added.

Mr Sunil Kode, Convenor, CII Pune HR & IR Panel and Vice President – HR, WILO Mather and Platt Pumps Pvt Ltd during his theme address said that HR or Human Resources–in the good old days, was called as Personnel or Administration department, which used to handle some of the functions that an HR manager does today. Earlier their role was confined to administrative functions like managing manpower requirements and maintaining rolls for the organization. Now with the changing times the HR has moved to web based system and the process like Performance Management just take 24 hours to be updated.  

Mr Kode also briefed on the various sessions the conference will have during the day i.e Role of HR & IR in Organizational Transformation, Leveraging Technology in Talent Management: Driver to Organizational Success, Motivational Session by Mr Yashasvi Misra, Principal Consultant, Theatre Based Training @ Self and Fostering Innovation in HR & IR.

Dr Shailesh Kasande, Director, Vishwakarma Institute of Management (VIM) briefed the participants on various initiatives carried by VIM. He said that VIM is closely working with industries to develop case studies of Indian organisations on HR, Manufacturing, and Finance etc.

Mr Ameet Naik, VP HR (Global HR Head - India, China & MEA), Binani Cement Ltd focused on 4 major points – 1) Transforming HR through technology and use of e-HR / HRIS 2) Gen Y and their expectations 3) Application of e-HR / HRIS & 4) The future: 5 year trends in HR technology

He said, “Today the face of HR is often a portal, rather than a person and HR services are mainly carried through technology and web based applications. HR is evolving into a more technology based profession. The Gen Y’s communication medium is normally through Internet, email, Voice mail, Employee Portal and e-HR”. Human touch is also required in HR, he added.

Mr V Suresh, Co - Convenor, CII Pune HR & IR Panel and Head-Human Resources and Employee Relations, CVBU, Tata Motors Ltd concluded the inaugural session by thanking all the eminent speakers, around 250+ participating delegates and invitees from all across India.
