Grammy Award Nominee Krishna Das meets Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani, sees famed DARSHAN Museum, gives LIVE performance at Sadhu Vaswani Mission

Pune (Jan. 17, 2015): On his visit to India, Grammy Award Nominee, USA-based singer Krishna Das gave a special visit to Pune to meet Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani during the events of Sadhu Vaswani’s 49th Mahayagna occasion.

He took a tour of the famed Darshan Museum upon arriving at Sadhu Vaswani Mission. Impressed at the experience, he summed it up in three words, “Love, love, love.”

He met Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani, followed by a LIVE performance to a packed audience. Attendees had come far and wide, excited that Krishna Das was performing in their city of Pune. Echoing their sentiment, attendee Poonam Sharma said, “It was a dream come true for me, indeed a miracle, to attend his performance right here in Pune. It was difficult for me to go to other cities where his concert was being held.” She added, “The session was food for our souls. The ambiance was so full of love.” Many had come from Mumbai too including Dr. Ekta Gehani, who came specially because she could not get tickets for his Mumbai concert.

Krishna Das is on a tour of India, known as the ‘Krishna Das Kirtan Wallah Tour India’ with his kirtan concerts being held at Mumbai, Bangalore, New Delhi and Rishikesh. He took time out his tour to specially visit Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani in Pune.

Welcoming Krishna Das with love and gratitude in his heart, Rev. Dada said in his address that people today want to learn meditation. But meditation is not for everyone. For meditation one needs concentration.  But kirtan is the way open to all. The way of Krishna Das is the way of kirtan. It is a way shown by Sri Chaintanya Mahaprabhu 500 years ago.  And Sri Krishna Das has drawn many to the Lord through his kirtan. He is a lover of the Lord, a lover of silence.  He has offered himself to The Lord. God sings through him. You cannot give to the outside what you do not have inside. His message to us is to build our inner life. We are all here for some special purpose. Let us not leave the world before we have completed the task for which we have come to this world. We have only this moment & let us begin with kirtan. "Hari bol, Hari bol bhaee!”

Later, Krishna Das led the kirtan session, in singing and chanting Lord’s holy name, singing with his harmonium. People were taken to trance as he sang the songs of Lord Shiva, Rama and other kirtans. He also chanted the hindi Hanuman Chalisa, drawing applause from the audience. Enlightened and touched by his kirtans, many had tears in their eyes. Poonam said, “It was a blissful experience for us. New revelation! It was amazing session, I feel enlightened.”

Mr. Arjun who plays the tabla for Krishna Das, said, “From today’s session I am taking back the beautiful ambiance that was full of emotions.” Speaking about Sadhu Vaswani Mission he said that he will go back to USA with the teaching of compassion.
