'Gaana Saraswati Mahotsav' 2015 to commence on the 6th of February in Pune

Pune (Jan. 22, 2015): Natyasampada Pratishthan founded by Late Natashreshtha Prabhakar Panshikar commenced a melodious endeavour, ‘Gaana Saraswati Mahotsav’, a Classical Music festival, two years ago. This event acknowledges and celebrates the exceptional contribution of Padma Vibhushan Gaana Saraswati Smt. Kishori Amonkar in the field of Indian Classical Music. This year’s Gaana Saraswati Mahotsav will take place between the 6th and 8th of February over four sessions at Mahalaxmi Lawns (near Rajaram Bridge) in Pune. This grand three day festival of Indian Classical Music will feature senior legendary artistes as well as talented upcoming artistes. HARMAN, the premier audio and infotainment group, has been associated with this event as the title sponsor since the event’s inception. This year’s event is also supported by Excellence Shelters, Fleet Guard and P. N. Gadgil & Sons.

The festival will commence on the 6th of February (Friday) at 5.00 PM with a performance by Nandini Bedekar, a senior disciple of Gaana Saraswati Kishori Amonkar. Her performance will be followed by a flute concert by Rakesh Chaurasia accompanied by Vijay Ghate on Tabla and Bhawani Shankar on Pakhawaj. This session will end with a vocal recital by senior artiste Anand Bhate.

The second day of the festival, Saturday, the 7th of February, will begin at 5.00 PM with a vocal recital by Bhuvanesh Komkali, grandson of Pandit Kumar Gandharva. His performance will be followed by a Sitar concert by Niladri Kumar. The session will end with a vocal recital by senior artiste Ashwini Bhide - Deshpande.

The morning session of the third and last day of the festival will begin at 9.00 AM on Sunday the 8th of February. Dinkar Panshikar will start this session with his vocal performance. The session will end with a performance by senior vocalist Malini Rajurkar.

The evening and last session of the event will begin at 5:00 PM with a vocal recital by Manjiri Asanare – Kelkar. Ganesh and Kumaresh will follow with their Violin duet performance. The festival will end with a vocal recital by senior artiste Rashid Khan.

The sale of tickets for this event will begin at 10.00 AM on the 31st of January.
