ISCC ‘Sindhu Gaurav Award’ presented to Dr. Ram Buxani


Pune (Jan. 05, 2015): International Sindhu Chamber of Commerce (ISCC), Pune celebrated their annual ‘Sindhu Gaurav Award’ Ceremony on 4th January 2015 at Courtyard Marriott, at a glittering ceremony.

It was an evening where the who’s who from the Sindhi fraternity from Pune, Mumbai, Malaysia & Dubai got together to see  Dr, Ram Buxani, Chairman of the world-wide International Traders (M,E,) Group being conferred the Sindhu Gaurav Award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Sindhi community.

Dr. Ram Buxani, who has won several accolades and awards at national and international level, was pleased to be honoured with this prestigious award coming from his own community. “I feel humbled. I laud the spirit of Sindhis. It is indeed an honour. It comes like a pat on the back”, he said humbly, having been a recipient of 32 national & international awards in the past.

“We Sindhis need to be recognised as a strong community and we are hopeful that the new government will give us a prominent status”, he appealed.

Resident of Dubai for more than 55 years, Ram Buxani, 72 is a familiar figure in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and the Gulf.  Social organizer, community leader, NRI spokesman, writer, stage actor, cultural ambassador - he is all this and more.

Chairman of the world-wide ITL Group having interest in Consumer Electronics, IT, Textiles, Real Estate & Banking and employing over 500 Indians, Mr. Buxani is also the Director of several other companies spread around the globe.  He is among the pioneer promoters of IndusInd Bank Ltd. in India and was its Director until recently.  He is the Chairman of Veeram International Ltd., BVI, Chairman of Veeram International Ltd, Dubai and is on the Board ofIndusInd International Holdings Ltd., Mauritius, and Vice Chairman of Al Razouki International Exchange Co., Dubai. He is also on the board of Sanjay-Gulf Industries (Pvt.) Ltd. and Cosmos-Sanjay Textile Mills Pvt. Ltd., Amritsar (Punjab). 

He is a prominent spokesperson of the NRIs and has played a key role in interacting on their behalf. Abolition of Estate Duty in India is the outcome of his efforts. 

The Chief Guest for the evening was Ram Jawhrani, Chairman, Sahyog Foundation.      

Brig Bhambhani welcomed all present while Peter Dhalwani, President, ISCC  & Nandkumar Jethani, Secretary, ISCC felicitated the VIP guests. Also present were Lalit Sangtani (Founder President), Kishu Mansukhani (Immediate Past President), Kamlesh Moorjani, Govind Bhagchandani, Ashok Kamdar & Arjan Jethwani, besides committee members.

ISCC was formed in 2003, to promote trading & commercial actrivities amongst Sindhis across the globe.
