Pune becomes the first city to get swept into the Roadies craze


Hosts first auditions of the season for MTV Roadies X2

The one and only Rannvijay Singh is joined by 3 new partners in crime…Vijender Singh, Karan Kundra and EshaDeol 

Pune (Dec. 05, 2014): After eleven glorious years of adventure and drama, MTV, the ultimate word on the youth, is back again with an all new adrenalin fuelled season ofits cult youth reality show MTV Roadies. In its twelfth season, MTV Hero Roadies X2 powered by vivo mobile, is all set to shake things up as it brings on board a whole new legion of gang leaders to join the original roadie Rannvijay Singh. The new gang leaders are the Olympic medallist and boxer Vijender Singh, the charming television heartthrob Karan Kundra and the ruthless Dhoom girl Esha Deol. All these four gang leaders were present in Pune city to audition aspiring contestants for this season which saw an outpouring of people lining up to become the next roadie!

Puneites were in for an action packed weekend as the MTV Roadies team rode into the city to hunt for those lucky few who will get the opportunity to try their luck at unleashing the hero within themselves by becoming a roadie. The ultimate dream of many – the thrill of the ride, the open road, tasks that build character and a path for a bright future – becoming a roadie means something different to each and every one aspiring to it. However, what stays the same is the passion and the perseverance to achieve that ultimate dream. Opening the gates to mass hysteria of the roadies’ kind, the new gang leaders put thousands of hopefuls from Pune city to the ultimate test to decide who got a shot at riding with them on MTV Hero Roadies X2 powered by vivo mobile – a journey that is bound to change lives!

Speaking about the twelfth season of the longest running reality show on Indian television, Aditya Swamy, EVP Viacom18 and Business Head, MTV India said, “It’s the 12th season and yet it feels like the first. The excitement of the fans that leads up to the auditions is contagious and this drives us to make every season the very best. Like each season before this, MTV Hero Roadies X2 powered by vivo mobile is being supported by a 360 degree promotion plan which includes and extensive online leg, PR activations, on-ground events and so much more.

The show, in its twelfth season now, has Hero MotoCorp as the title sponsor. Hero MotoCorp, World's largest two wheeler company has been connecting with the youth leveraging sports, adventure and entertainment. MTV Roadies thus becomes an apt platform, being the most popular youth reality show. This year the contestants will ride on Karizma ZMR, the most aspirational sports bike in India because of its advanced technology and superior styling.

The Pune auditions were held for two days on 5th and 6th December 2014, with day one being spent on group discussions and the one-on-one auditions being held the following day. In true roadies’ tradition, the one-on-one auditions were filled with drama and excitement. This time around, the contestants had to impress not one, not two but four judges with four completely different views on what it takes to become a roadie! But if the phenomenal response from aspirants was anything to go by, Pune sure showed the four gang members how serious the city was about giving India its next roadie!
