Pune: The finale of the 3rd edition of Van Heusen + GQ Fashion Nights was a star-studded fashionable affair with ace designers like Rajesh Pratap Singh, Arjun Khanna and Gaurav Gupta showcasing their collections. The property created by GQ India, the ultimate authority on men’s fashion and lifestyle and Van Heusen, India’s leading lifestyle brand for professionals, was held at Taj Land’s End, Mumbai on 12th November. Bollywood A-lister Irrfan Khan kickstarted the night by showcasing a custom-made, Indigo-inspired Rajesh Pratap Singh outfit.
Vidyut Jamwal walked the ramp for Van Heusen while Shahid Kapoor closed the third edition as showstopper for Gaurav Gupta’s inaugural line of menswear. Deepika Padukone, looking breath-taking in a shimmer Sabyasachi sari, came to support her Padmavati co-star and was seen cheering him on excitedly as he brought the evening to a spectacular finish.
Van Heusen showcased their Fashion Wedding Collection which celebrates special occasions with refined details on luxurious fabric blends, impeccably tailored with flamboyant patterns, intense hues and bold shapes for today’s men.
Ever since its launch in 2008, GQ India has always been on the forefront of all things related to the modern Indian man. The last 9 years have seen GQ play an instrumental role in revolutionizing menswear in India, bringing about a tidal wave of change that has trickled down to the average man on the streets, further substantiated by Van Heusen + GQ Fashion Nights.
Rajesh Pratap Singh kicked off Day 2 with a powerful collection that showcased his experiments with indigo. The looks were inspired from small town India, especially the deserts of Rajasthan & Gujarat which served as his visual references. With asymmetric designs and modern international silhouettes, Singh’s collection was fashion forward yet supremely wearable.
Arjun Khanna’s collection involved fine detailing, combined with his impeccable cut and tailoring. The colour palette was predominantly black and white with bursts of red. Guests were privy to Khanna’s trademark biker and military influenced clothes – his take on crop jackets and the new Nehru jacket. The garments focussed on sleeves and textures. And an embroidered skull and bone motif lent a rock ‘n’ roll feel to the entire collection.
Closing the third edition of Van Heusen + GQ Fashion Nights was Gaurav Gupta who launched his line of menswear at the event. A bespoke Made to Measure collection, Gupta was inspired by constellations, stars and space, and put out very edgy, sexy and progressive tuxedos, and asymmetric jackets.
Sharing his thoughts on the collections showcased at the finale, Che Kurrien, Editor, GQ, said, “This was a seminal day in the history of menswear in India.
