New Delhi: Representatives of “Girl Rising,” a global action campaign to educate and empower girls, called on the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today. They included Ms. Freida Pinto, Ambassador, Girl Rising India, and Ms. Samantha Wright, Vice-President, Global Programs for Girl Rising.
The Girl Rising campaign is anchored by a feature film that is being remade into several Indian languages.
The representatives appreciated the Prime Minister’s “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” initiative. The Prime Minister said the “Girl Rising” campaign in India should focus especially on the problem of female foeticide.
