The Rotary Club of Mumbai District 3141 and Bayview invited Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani to address the Rotarians at the Taj in Mumbai on May 9, 2017. Rtn. Presidents Dr. Mukesh Batra, Anil Harish and Sanjay Jalan welcomed and felicitated Dada at the meeting that was well-attended by business leaders from various fields.
Dada commended the Rotary Club, “The Rotary Movement is a great movement. During the last 100 years or so, 25 great movements have appeared in different parts of the world and the Rotary Movement is one of them. It is pledged to the ideals of fellowship and friendship and service.”
Dada went on to relate life to a game. The call of life is to play the game well, and for that we must follow its rules. Dada elucidated the rules:
Rule 1 -Never regard anything as belonging to you. We came into this world empty handed and when we go even our hands will be left behind. Nothing belongs to us – we belong to God.
Rule 2 – We must enter into a loving relationship with God. It can be any kind of relationship – you can even regard God as your senior business partner. This relationship will solve many of our problems. Make God real in your daily life.
Rule 3 – Understand that everything happens according to the Will of God. Greet everything that happens to us with the words, “I accept!” A man with a furniture shop went on a holiday, and when he returned, he found his whole shop had been burnt down. He took up a bamboo and hung a cardboard sign on which he wrote: “House Burnt. Shop Burnt. Furniture burnt. Faith not burnt. Shall restart tomorrow!”
Rule 4 – Keep a daily appointment with God. God is always here for us. Call Him and He is in front of us.
Rule 5 – Never forget that love is why we are here. We are here because of love. We are here to give and receive love. Love is at once a noun and a verb. Life’s greatest gift is to love and be loved.
Rule 6 – Do your duty honestly and sincerely. It’s not what we do that matters – it’s how we do it.
Rule 7 – Develop a healthy sense of humor. It is a mental, physical, and spiritual tonic.
There was a brief Q&A session of the Rotarians with Dada after the talk. The audience gave him a standing ovation.
One of the attendees, Roda remarked at close of the meeting, “If there were more people like Dada Vaswani, we would be living in a paradise, with eternal happiness & peace.”
Mr. Freyaz shared his experience, “I needed to hear the message he gave today. I was elated! I was at the right place, at the right time for the right message. Love it when God works like this.”
