Ahmedabad: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has started to work-out for ROBOCON 2016 event. To select the Indian team, the National Robocon will be held from 3rd to 5th March 2016 at the Shiv Chatrapati Krida Sankul, Balewadi, Pune. The Winner of the National Robocon 2016 will represent India in the International Robocon 2016 to be held in Bangkok in August 2016.
The theme for International Robocon 2016 is ‘Chai-Yo: Clean Energy Recharging the World’. This event will celebrate the utilization of renewable energy as an alternative to the rapidly decreasing fossil energy. The contest will demonstrate the significance of renewable energy through an entertaining encounter of competing robots. 30 member team of GTU will participate in National ROBOCON with two Robos, one manual and another automatic. Another 30 member team will be kept ready as standby.
Mentor’s Meeting was organized on 13th OCT 2015 by Community Innovation & Co-Creation Centre (CiC3), ROBO Research Group at GTU’s, ACPC Building, L.D. Engg. College Campus. More than 35 Professor were present in Meeting and Google hangout to show their interest as guide and mentor in GTU – ROBOCON -2016 Team as per their expertise. The Vision of honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Akshai Aggarwal for GTU – ROBOCON Team is to build essential skills such as Team work, Team Spirit, Management work, Pressure handling skills, Decision making skills, Extensive gain of technical knowledge, Circuit designing skill, Programming skill among GTU engineering students. Mission of GTU ROBOCON Team is to provide an opportunity to young, enthusiastic and talented engineering students, to showcase their passion in ROBOTICS by participating on National/International Robotics competition.
GTU has been trying through a number of innovative programs and initiatives, to significantly improve the quality of engineering students that it offers to the industry and society. Robocon is an International Robotics competition organized every year by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), for Asia Pacific Region. In the competition robots compete to complete a task within a time limit. Aim of this contest is to create friendship among young people with similar interests who will lead their countries in the 21st century.
