Pune: India will soon start providing different civic and medical services to countries in the Pacific Islands under an agreement between India and all countries of The Pacific Islands. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi gave an assurance in the recently held cooperation summit between India and The Pacific Islands, stated that, “Due to these facilities, it will help improve the lifestyle of people living in Pacific Islands.” Sahyadri Hospitals Chairman Dr.Charudutt Apte was also present in this summit.
In the year 2014 Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi had made a cooperation agreement with The Pacific Island countries. According to the agreement the sectors that India has agreed to look for deeper cooperation with the island nations include oil and natural gas, mining, IT, health care, fishing and marine research.
Last week India, hosted the Forum for India- Pacific Island Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit in Rambagh Hotel, Jaipur, attended by the Prime Ministers of India and all the countries in the Pacific Islands.
Sahyadri Hospitals Chairman, Dr.Charudutt Apte was specially invited by the Indian government for this conference as Sahyadri Hospitals has been keenly working with Fiji in the Pacific Islands since 3 years in regard with the health care sector.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Charudutt Apte said, “It is need of the hour to get proper medical facilities. Pacific Island countries like Fiji lacks tertiary health care facilities and only a small percentage of people can afford to travel abroad for their healthcare needs. Sahyadri Hospitals off lately have been associated closely with Government of Fiji, a Pacific Island country for providing super speciality healthcare services in Fiji. In this scenario, initiative by India’s Sahyadri Hospitals to send their team of specialists to Fiji and perform surgeries was well appreciated.”
