Pune: Poona Blind Men’s Association-Technical Training Institute has launched Late Padma Shri Niranjan Pandya ‘SENSORY PARK’ at Kondhwa . The park was inaugurated at the hands of Mrs. Rati Forbes, Director of Forbes Marshall, one of the major donors in creation of this park, along with Guests of Honour, Mr. Nitin Patil-Disability Commissioner of Maharashtra, Corporator PMC- . Ashok Kamble & Sudhir Sable (Chairman of TTI of PBMA), . Nitin Desai (Chairman, Poona Blind men’s Association), Kishorbhai Vora ( Hon. Secretary, Poona Blind Men’s Association) Mr. Parvez Bilimoria (President , Poona Blind Men’s Association) Mr. J.P Banerjee (Hon. Director of TTI of PBMA) & many dignitaries of Pune & PBMA.
Mr. Nitin Patil (Disability Commissioner of Maharashtra) highly appreciated all team members’ efforts. Mr. Nitin Desai, Mr. Sudhir Sable & Parvez Bilimoria spoke about over all development of TTI of PBMA & to do best for visually impaired development. Mr. J.P Banerjee spoke about sensory park & Purpose of sensory park. Mr. Kishorbhai Vora gave vote of thanks.
It is a unique and one of its kind in whole of Maharashtra for any institution providing skill training for the ‘Disabled’
The purpose of the park is to enhance all the senses of the ‘Disabled’ for overall development including mind, body & soul, giving aesthetic beauty to the campus & providing ecofriendly environment to give relaxation & peace of mind in a learning & exploratory medium. Poona Blind Men’s Association-Technical Training Institute was established in 1960. The Institute is a premier Institution, which imparts vocational training and rehabilitation services to the adult visually impaired (VI), by experienced Professionals.
The Institute is situated on a large campus with separate hostel facilities for 90 boys and 60 girls. It also has a 150-seater dining and a modern kitchen to cater to its student and staff.
Its vision is to empower the visually impaired (VI) persons by helping them acquire job linked skills and techniques and help them overcome their disability through the 4C concept by developing their Competence, Capacity, Confidence & Courage to face the World bravely.
Once they complete training, help is provided to find gainful employment/ self employment through our Employment Cell and dissemination of career information and regular counseling.
