New Delhi: Lauding PM Narendra Modi’s profile in TIME Magazine by Barack Obama, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has called it a ‘remarkable gesture’ by the US president.
On Thursay, Tharoor tweeted, “A remarkable gesture by a US President… Whatever our political differences, Indians hope @narendramodi lives up to it”
Tharoor has been slammed by Congress members in the past for praising PM Modi on several occasions.
On the other hand, when asked to comment on Obama writing a profile for PM Modi, Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma said, “He has even misled Obama. That he has done.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been named among the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME Magazine.
In the profile titled ‘India’s reformer-in-chief’, Obama has described Modi’s life story “from poverty to Prime Minister” as one that reflects the dynamism and potential of India’s rise.
“Determined to help more Indians follow in his path, he’s laid out an ambitious vision to reduce extreme poverty, improve education, empower women and girls and unleash India’s true economic potential while confronting climate change,” Obama wrote.
