We want a safe and healthy future for our children, one without radiation” Further adding “Having said that I would like to say that the Silent March is not against 4G/ technology, because 4G is generation next, it will change the face of networking. We are against the fact that the 4G towers are planted in residential areas which can be a huge threat to us”
Plagued by the newest health menace in modern day Mumbai—the construction of 4G and internet towers in urban areas—the residents, who were earlier fighting this battle against radiation as individual societies, have now come together under one roof.
The residents organised a “SILENT MARCH” against the setting up of internet and 4G towers in urban areas, after an internet tower erected at the Pramod Mahajan Park in Third Cross Lane sparked outrage amongst local residents.
“SILENT MARCH” which took place from Green Acer Society to Pramod Mahajan Garden 3rd cross Lane, Lokhandawala was organised to educate people about the harmful effect of radiation emitted from these 4G/ mobile towers & requesting the authorities to install the same away from children garden/ residence area.
Green Acres building had been fighting their own battle against a tower that had been erected right outside their gates. The residents of the building agreed to lend their whole hearted support to see that these towers were revoked from urban neighbourhoods.
Both parties—the Third Cross Lane Association and residents of Green Acres—also decided to make flyers that they would hand out to societies via newspapers, in an effort to spread awareness about the harmful effects of radiation and to appeal to them to join this common fight against radiation.
