Pune: Tata AutoComp Systems Limited and Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) have jointly launched series of eModule blended Proficiency Improvement Programmes (PIPs). These blended learning programs consist of half-day eModule and half-day classroom teaching and interaction. These eModules, offered by iEDGE – an e-learning initiative of Tata AutoComp, are story-based animated learning, which get enhanced by listening and reading. Lot of practical shop floor examples with case studies, audio and video visuals have been added to these industry oriented training programs.
The first in the series, 3-Day PIP on “Excellence through Quality” was organized at ARAI-FID, Chakan (near Pune). The program was inaugurated by Ms. Alka Pande, Advisor, ASDC (Automotive Skill Development Council). Speaking on the occasion, she said, “For any organization, manpower is the strength and they need to have time for training and skill development. There are lots of engineering colleges and training institutes those have mushroomed in last few years, but are not able to fulfil industry requirements, because they have not understood specific requirements and technology gaps are not addressed accordingly. ARAI and Tata AutoComp have potential to understand and fulfil these industry requirements. ASDC would work with them for making specific job role related training programs.”
Mr. Sudhir Gupta, Executive Vice President, Tata AutoComp, stressed the need for training of manpower in the world of volatility and Tata AutoComp is committed to work in this area of knowledge dissemination.
Dr. K.C. Vora, Sr. Deputy Director & Head, ARAI Academy explained the role played by ARAI Academy in last 10 years and committed to give more than 50 training programs in a year as a part of Golden Jubilee celebration of ARAI. Mrs. Rashmi Urdhwareshe, Director ARAI, stresses skill development as one of the objectives of ARAI and supports graduate, post graduate and doctoral programs in Automotive Engineering in collaboration with National and International Universities. ARAI’s training programs known as Proficiency Improvement Programs (PIP) have become popular among automotive sector companies because of rich content as per the industry requirements.
iEDGE Learning has created unique platform to offer various certified industry oriented e-learning modules. These modules are created by industry experts, with focus on practical knowledge, useful for engineering students, faculty and Industry professionals to enhance their knowledge. Till date, over 3000 professionals from 80 organizations have taken benefit of it.
As per Automotive Mission Plan 2026 (AMP-2026), efforts are being made to make India as an international automotive hub, not only in the field of Manufacturing, but also in R&D and Innovation. Many more such blended eModules PIPs are planned, including subjects of Effective Logistics and Import, Export Management, Essentials of Quality, NPI and Product Engineering with IPR, Maintenance, Sourcing, Manufacturing Excellence, Manufacturing Engineering, Stores & industrial Safety, etc.
