~Empowers 1,170 youth with vocational and service industries skills training initiative~
Maharashtra, May 16, 2018: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always been a pioneer in the comprehensive development of youth living in and around its operational areas. In continuation with the philosophy, Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) launched the Employability-Kaushal Vikas Program in Maval and Bhivpuri to enhance the skills of rural youth and help them get a job placement in the nearby Industries and market. Within three years of its launch, the program has trained and certified 1,170 youths for vocational and service industries skills.
The objective of this program was to benefit youth with a flexible approach of learning while earning as most of them are involved in labor work on a daily basis. Through the Modular Employable Skills Training Program, TPCDT provided them with practical training and theoretical knowledge by expert faculty for at least 300 -750 hours depending on the course.
Five rural employability centres were established in the rural lake catchment area and nearby plant to enhance the accessibility. These centres were established under the ‘Kaushal Vikas Yojana’ scheme aimed at training the youth of the region, to be employed and self-reliant. 70% youth trained succeeded in securing placements with a monthly salary ranging from 6000 PM to 18000 PM in firms like KSPG Engineering, Mahindra & Mahindra, TVS Company, Intel Electronics, Kamshet and Lonavla region, Amazon back end office; IMAGICA, Pinewood Resort in Karjat and Khopoli region etc.
