Tushar Unadkat is more than qualified to be a celebrity, with an extensive resume to back it all up. He wasn’t born with his credentials or into wealth and fame, but worked hard enough to make it to the finalist in 2014 for RBC’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award. His range of experience in the entertainment industry varies from film to events and marketing.
Originally from India, now settled in Canada, he has travelled most of Europe, UK, USA and more, leaving his mark with the work that he does. He is the CEO, Creative Director of MUKTA Advertising, & Founder, Executive Director of Nouveau iDEA and has conducted premieres of movies, managed celebrities and a whole lot more!
With an Hons. degree in Photography, he first bagged a prestigious Vishwamitri Award in 1995, but he didn’t stop there. Receiving twelve, five nominations and two semi-finalist awards right through to 2017, from Governments, Councils, Universities, BBC and other recognized organizations.
He sat on the panel of judges for Desi Idol (Canada/USA) 3 consecutive years (2007-2009), which led to being included as a judge for many other internationally acclaimed talent shows.
With extensive experience in Public Speaking, Tushar has earned the MC (Master of Ceremony) title at many impressive events in Greater Toronto Area and abroad. Tushar was the Media Specialist and MC for 5 consecutive years at the Mosaic Festival of Mississauga.
The Festival Director of MOSAIC Festival of Mississauga, Asma Mahmood said, “Tushar Unadkat is a well-known South Asian artist, designer and media personality in Canada and the USA. He embodies the spirit of the festival as mainstage M.C. and media support for the Mosaic festival. Tushar has a master’s degree in design from U.K. and PhD in charm!”
His Academics in Arts and Business have been obtained from India, England, Scotland, Germany and Canada. People with street smarts might lack book smarts and vice versa, but not Tushar, he has it all!
On a personal level, he can be trusted, knows how to lighten the mood with his sense of humour and can have heavy debates when conversing. He is a strong support to his family and friends, helping them to make sense of situations, pulling them through and restoring their faith.
As a child he dreamed of his career, now an adult, when reflecting on his childhood dreams, he smiles knowing he is exactly where he wanted to be. He is grateful to all the positive energies in his life and gives back to the community as often as he can.
Aside from his work and education, he has received testimonials from Toronto Star and The Times of India, to name a few.
Like many other people, he faced obstacles along the way. He overcame them one by one and now believes, like Will Smith and Duane Hudson, that his failures were preparing him for his successes. Known to mingle with well-known celebrities, he is a heart-warming and down-to-earth individual.
Currently, Mr. Unadkat is attending series of International Film festivals in India scouting for fresh talent for his upcoming screenplay based on Indian Mythological story of the couple Nala and Damyanti.
“My story is contemporary set of the mythological characters, with modern twists of life,” reveals Tushar.
“Although, I haven’t seen Padmavat, the current controversy makes me think about freedom of expression for filmmakers in India,” said Tushar. “India being the largest Democracy, CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) is the final authority at question,” adds Tushar, raising his shoulders.
While film is his passion, he dreams to direct his own production one day. His dreams are close to becoming a reality with his contacts, contagious personality and wealth of knowledge in the industry, I am most definitely looking forward to seeing what this creative individual concocts!
