New Delhi — U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nikki Haley visited New Delhi from June 26-28 to meet with members of the Indian government and civil society and discuss strengthening U.S.-India cooperation on international issues. Ambassador Haley met with Prime Minister Modi at his residence and attended a meeting and working dinner hosted by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. She also met with Muslim, Jain, Hindu, Christian, and Sikh leaders in Old Delhi, as well as anti-human trafficking activist and Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi. In addition, she delivered a speech on “Advancing U.S.-India Relations” at an event sponsored by the Observer Research Foundation.
“I believe both Indians and Americans have much to be grateful for,” Ambassador Haley said during her speech. “We have both been blessed with strong values and energetic citizens. And these blessings are both the foundation of our relationship and the promise of our future together.”
