Pune: Yamaha India Motors Pvt. Ltd., today launched its revolutionary new offerings 125cc bike ‘Saluto’ & stylish ‘Fascino’ scooter for the Indian regional Market in Pune, Maharashtra. The launch took place at the hands of Mr. Naveeth Menon, Zonal Sales Head – West Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd and Mr.Girish Naik, Yamaha Zonal Service Head in a glitzy event organised by Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. (YMIS), a group company that has been established to independently support IYM in Sales & Marketing of its products. The new Yamaha ‘Saluto’ and ‘Fascino’ is priced at Rs. 54,000 and Rs. 53989 (ex-showroom, Pune) respectively and will be available across all Yamaha authorised dealers in the city. The new 125cc ‘Saluto’ is the lightest vehicle in the 125cc class and has been developed as a family-use motorcycle with practical performance at an affordable price. Based on the Blue Core Engine Development ideal, it is powered by a new engine with a more compact combustion chamber than previous 125cc models released by the company. Thanks to its thoroughly-lightweight design, the new model has the lightest weight in its class at 112kg, which in turn improves fuel economy by approximately 10% as compared to the company’s previous models in its class. The advanced blue core engine used in this bike increases the mileage significantly. This engine has been used by Yamaha for the first time. The Saluto boasts of a mileage of 78 kmpl. Catering to the needs of the Indian market, where carrying a pillion passenger is frequent, the new Saluto’s suspension, footrests and seat are setup to enhance comfort. The new model has a resin tank cover, which adds to the motorcycle’s dynamic styling.
Whereas, the new stylish Fascino is powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke 113cc “BLUE CORE” engine with a continuous variable transmission (CVT). It features a lightweight body with glamorous design and offers user-friendliness as well as great fuel efficiency at 66 kmpl. The demand for scooters is high in India. The markets in Gujarat and Maharashtra generate high demand for scooters therefore Fascino will be aggressively marketed in these two regions. In addition to practical functions such as comfort and storage, the new Fascino also has features such as 1) new body styling with dynamic curves embellished with chrome-plated parts to add a sense of refinement and class, 2) an engine with high combustion efficiency to offer among the best fuel efficiency in the class, and 3) weight of only 103kg (the lightest Yamaha scooter introduced in India) that contributes to both fuel efficiency and ease of handling. The new model will come in 5 colours including a trendy matte chromatic colouring to satisfy the needs of trend-conscious young riders.
Commenting on the ‘Saluto’ launch, Mr. Naveeth Menon, Yamaha Zonal Sales Head said: “The Indian Motorcycle market constitutes about 68% of the total two-wheeler market at 11 million units. Out of this, the 100-125cc motorcycle class is the largest category at 9 million units, comprising almost 83% of the market. Given the excellent fuel efficiency that ‘Saluto’ offers in the 125cc class, we hope that ‘Saluto’ is recognized as the most demanded bike in its class. We are sure that our new product will further elevate our standing in the market.
Commenting on the regional launch of Fascino, Girish Naik, Yamaha Zonal Service Head said, “India has the world’s largest two-wheeler market with a total annual demand of approximately 16 million units (2014). Out of the total demand, the scooter segment constitutes 27% of the market, and is growing further year by year. The new ‘Fascino’ is intended to further expand sales in the scooter category, which is expected to grow further, especially among the youth who have a keen interest in current fashion and trends.”
