Mumbai: More than 10,000 music and motorcycle lovers from across India celebrated and enjoyed the coming together of pulsating rock music and roaring Harley engines, at the 6th season of the Harley Rock Riders music festival. Hosted at the iconic Richardson & Cruddas Foundry in Mumbai, the festival witnessed some of the best talent from both Indian and International bands, a spectacular display of the recently launched Harley-Davidson MY16 Dark Custom motorcycles, a dedicated Harley-Davidson museum showcasing the journey of motorcycles and rock music over the years and official Harley-Davidson merchandise enhancing the whole experience.
Pallavi Singh, Director Marketing, Harley-Davidson India said, “This has been by far the biggest season of Harley Rock Riders. Together with our partner Guvera, Jameson and Only Much Louder we would like to thank all the music and motorcycle enthusiasts and fans for their ardent display of energy which made both the days so memorable! A special thanks to the independent bike builders who unleashed their creativity and built terrific custom Harley-Davidson motorcycles and to the Harley owners who rode down in unison to be a part of the festival.”
Tushar Jaitley from TJ-Moto was awarded the coveted ‘Custom Champion’ title, judged by veteran Japanese custom bike builder Kaichiroh Kurosu of Cherry’s Company a leading private custom motorcycle shop based in Japan that mainly deals with Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and has been working with the brand’s products for over 20 years and Claes Loberg, founder and director of innovation for Guvera.
The contest featured 5 of India’s best independent motorcycle customizers, namely – EIMOR Customs, TNT Motorcycles, Godspeed Customs, MotoMiu, and TJ Moto. Moreover, the five motorcycles were exclusively unveiled for the first-time at Harley Rock Riders, and motorcycle fanatics attending the festival were able to view some of the best custom talent in the country.
Kaichiroh Kurosu of Cherry’s Company said, “Taking this competition as an opportunity, I hope many more people explore customization and nurture the culture of customization of Harley-Davidson motorcycles in India.”
Metal fans from across the country bowed down to the ‘gods’ of metal – Megadeth themselves, and experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of watching the icons perform live, while Reggae fans grooved to the tunes of wildly popular international band – The Wailers. Megadeth also responded to the love of their fans from Bangalore in a truly rocking fashion and because of popular demand, performed in the ‘Silicon Valley of India’ on October 28th, as a pre-cursor to the rock music festival.
Arjun S. Ravi, Co-founder OML said, “It’s been another amazing year hosting the festival in Mumbai. Harley Rock Riders has been the perfect platform for fans to connect their love for motorcycles and rock music. We saw a fantastic turn-out this year especially with icons like Megadeth and The Wailers headlining the festival along with some great rock and metal acts from across India. We couldn’t have asked for a better response from the crowd. We now look forward to revving up your experience for next edition of the festival.”
Earning the chance to play for a live audience not only at HRR Season VI but also at next year’s edition of the music festival, Celestial Teapot were crowned the winners of the ‘Find your Freedom’ contest. As the audience chanted Megadeth, the symphony of music and motorcycles came alive as Harley owners created a special ‘mega rev’ by revving up their motorcycles as Megadeth went up the stage to perform.
Audiences remained gripped over the two-days of the festival with power-packed performances also from some of the best Indie bands from across the country such as, Bhayanak Maut, Scribe, Skrat, Indus Creed, F16s, Super Fuzz, The Ska Vengers among others.
Following HRR, on November 1st, the Harley-Davidson motorcycle Boot Camp was carried out in Mumbai where riders experienced the Harley-Davidson culture and took their dream Harley for a ride.
