The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) hosted its 17th Indo-American Corporate Excellence Awards on October 5, 2021, via its virtual and social media platforms. First presented in 2004, the awards felicitate the top Indian and US business entities that have had significant contributions in boosting bilateral trade between the two countries.
The Chief Guest for the evening was the Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways & Textiles, Ms. Darshana Jardosh. During the Awards ceremony, the minister mentioned that, “Positioned as a major investment destination to the world, India is targeting to increase its bilateral trade with the US to $500 billion in the near term. Sectors like aerospace and defense, banking, financial services, and insurance, chemicals, dedicated freight corridors, energy, and infrastructure have the immense potential not just for domestic growth, but also for strengthening India’s position as a global business hub.”
Mr. Vijay Rupani, Former Chief Minister of Gujarat along with Dr. Swati Kulkarni, Indian Consul General, Atlanta, USA, and Mr. Scott Ticknor, US Deputy Principal Officer, US Consulate General, Mumbai graced the occasion as the Guests of Honor for the evening. IACC also felicitated County Commissioner, Adrian Garcia, Precinct 2, Harris County, Texas as a Leader in Incision and Diversity for his contribution towards Ease of Doing Business
Former Chief Minister of Gujarat during the Awards ceremony commented that “India and the United States are working together in strengthening their economic ties by introducing innovations through smart technologies. In fact recently during PM Modi’s visit to the US, the two leaders discussed how the US and India can work together to lift the economies of both the democracies.”
Mr. Pankaj Bohra, Regional President of the Chamber, formally welcomed the gathering by saying that “For last 53 years IACC has been acting as a catalyst promoting trade and investments in Indo-US corridor, today America has emerged as the largest trading partner of India. The new geopolitical situation has further created an opportunity to take Indo-US economic engagement to the next higher level.”
A Jury that consisted of eminent industry leaders such as Mr. Shailesh Haribhakti, Mr. Suresh Kotak, Dr. Lalit Kanodia, Mr. Nanik Rupani, Mr. Harish Mehta, Mr. Kapil Kaul, Dr. Lalit Bhasin, and Mr. Purnachandra Rao had selected these winners after due deliberations and research shared by our Knowledge Partner for the year, Grant Thornton Bharat.
Over 500 industry leaders were present for the live event to celebrate the contributions being made towards strengthening bi-lateral trade relations between India & the USA.
