Pune: The Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of January 2015 for Pune was at 1748 indicating a 14% increase in the hiring activity in comparison to January 2014. Sectors like Insurance and Construction and Engineering saw a decline of 22% and 14% respectively in their hiring activity in January’15 as compared to January’14. However, the IT Software sector remained stable at 1% year on year growth and the Banking and Financial Services sector grew at 45% in the same period.
V Suresh, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer, Naukri.com said “Positive hiring sentiments in sectors like IT and BFSI are driving the job market in Pune. With the global economy showing signs of steady revival backed up by sustained domestic demand, we can expect the hiring momentum to pick up in the months to come.”
Industry Sector Analysis:
An in depth analysis revealed that while Telecom, Pharma and the BFSI sectors recorded growth, few sectors such as the BPO and ITES as well as the Construction and Engineering sector saw a year on year decline of 8% and 14% respectively in the index in January’15. The Insurance and Auto sectors also experienced a dip with the index going down by 22% and 5% respectively in the same period. However, the Banking and Financial services sector saw an exceptional spike of 45% in the January ’15 index in comparison to the January’14 level.
Functional Area Analysis:
The demand for professionals working in IT- Software saw an increase of 9% in January 15’ over January 14′. But professionals employed in the Marketing & Advertising and Sales & Business Development witnessed a stable period with a decline of less than 1% in hiring in the same period. Employment opportunities for Project Management professionals also declined by 19% in this period.
