An honest Ola Driver Partner got himself an admirer for life when he returned a customer’s wallet. Subhash Sangam did not even realize that he had forgotten his wallet in the cab. It had cash, credit cards and personal IDs documents. Losing them would have been disastrous. He was, therefore, very grateful to driver partner, Namdev Chavan who went beyond his call of duty to return his belongings.
Subhash had booked an Ola cab after a hard day’s work in the office. He was so exhausted that his colleagues booked him an Ola, and once he got in, he fell asleep immediately. “I just could not keep my eyes open and woke up only when I reached my destination. I just paid the fare, reached home and hit the bed,” smiles Subhash.
For Namdev, it was his last trip for the day and he too was eager to get back home. He had a long way to go and after dropping Sangam drove on for close to 20 minutes before he noticed the wallet lying on the back seat. “I was glad that I did not do another pick up because I could immediately identify the owner,” he says. But the return journey meant driving through heavy traffic and crossing a busy railway intersection. He didn’t have the customer’s number as the booking was done by a friend.
But Namdev did not hesitate for a second, he turned his car back and drove all the way back to Subash’s apartment. He informed the security guard about the wallet and asked him to convey the message to the customer. But Subhash casually looked through his belongings and dismissed the guard. When the guard came back with the message, Namdev insisted that he go back and check again. It was then Subhash realized that he had lost his wallet.
“I would have lost many important documents if Namdev has not persisted in returning my wallet. Nobody would have gone to such an extent for any customer. I am extremely grateful to Namdev for his honesty and care,” says Subhash.
Ola has thousands of driver partners in its platform, and such acts of kindness have been recounted by many customers. Good Samaritans like Namdev are an asset to our organization and we are proud to have him on our platform.
