~More than 775 families benefitted with their caste certificates~
Pune, Maharashtra, 30th January, 2017: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always been a front runner in undertaking various initiatives to improve the standard of living for its communities. In continuation with the philosophy, Tata Power undertook an initiative to empower the families by facilitating them with their caste certificates at its Hydros division. More than 775 families benefitted in getting their caste certificates that would help them in getting access to various initiatives from the Government.
The caste certification drive, belonging to the Affirmative Action community of Tata Power, was attended by senior officials from Tata Power along with senior leaders from the region. Many of the employees from Tata Power also volunteered for the programme and helped in the smooth processing of the certificates under the TVW VI initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mahesh Paranjpe- Chief – Hydro & Renewable Operations, Tata Power said, “The caste certification drive among the underprivileged communities is another initiative by Tata Power that underscores our commitment towards the communities that resides in and around our plants. The initiative would allow them to have access to the various social schemes from the government. We would remain committed for further development in the region and would try to improve the living standards with our various interventions.”
There were more than 1700 families, belonging to the Affirmative Action community, who were without their caste certificates. The initiative from Tata Power helped around 1626 families to file for the caste certificates among which 776 families were successfully awarded with the certificates.
Tata Power would continue to engage with the under privileged communities around its operational areas and would strive hard to be the catalyst for change of the region for a brighter and prosperous future.
