Compact and powerful, the 24-70mm lens’ anti-reflective ARNEO Coat empowers clear and high-quality images with excellent control across the entire shooting range
New Delhi February 15, 2019: Nikon India, 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, leaders in imaging technology, today announced the new Nikon Z series NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S lens, which boasts great optical performance and uncompromised image quality, packaged into a compact 24-70mm zoom lens with a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8.
Lightweight and durable for every occasion, equipped with dust and dirt resistance, professional and amateur photographers and videographers can look forward to using the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S, which empowers great movie recording performance with a wider range of filming capabilities.
As part of the S-Line lenses, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S delivers superior performance across the entire shooting range thanks to a multi-focusing system, ensuring reduced aberrations and a sharp focus plane for any subject, whether near or far. The lens is designed with an anti-reflective coating system featuring the ARNEO Coat, which achieves ultra-low reflectance of incident light, realising clear and crisp images with largely reduced ghost and flare effects. The ARNEO Coat also allows for superb tolerance for backlight or when a light source is located within the frame.
With its bright optical system, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S lens provides a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the lens’ entire zoom range, unlike some zoom lenses that have a variable maximum aperture according to focal length. This allows photographers to have greater autonomy over their shooting intentions, with control over subject exposure to ensure sharp images even in dimly lit areas. Adding to its excellent level of control is the compactness of the lens. Weighing at approximately 805g, this lens is highly portable and can be effortlessly used on-the-go, even while travelling abroad.
“Our endeavour has been pushing boundaries of innovation and creativity at Nikon, we have developed a zoom lens with a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 that is unlike any other. The lens is highly versatile and excellent for everyday photography and videography. Photographers can use this power-packed lens to shoot a diverse range of images, producing stellar quality images and videos every time and in any situation,” said Sajjan Kumar – Managing Director, Nikon India.
NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S Primary Features
The new zoom lens employs a newly incorporated multi-focusing system; drastically reducing aberrations even when shooting in close distances, and as a result, delivering extremely accurate and high-speed AF control. Additionally, a smooth and natural bokeh effect allows the photographer to achieve the specific subject isolation he visualized while retaining rich detail and natural colour.
Shooting with sunlight glares in the background can also be done with ease. The highly anti-reflective Nano Crystal Coat and ARNEO Coat achieve ultra-low reflectance for incident light so that even with a light source within the frame, clear images can be captured.
The all-rounded NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S not only promises excellent control for still photography; it also guarantees professional quality and smooth video footages, with a wider range of filming capabilities from focus-breathing reduction, improved superior operability, quieter operation and smoother aperture control.
Capturing delicate details like a ripple in the water or a rare quiet city morning becomes easier, as stills and movies alike can be taken in silence. By assigning settings on the control ring, unnecessary noise from changing the settings can be reduced, and movies can be shot undistracted with smooth camera operation. A dedicated focus ring that is separate from the control ring also allows for manual focus operation to achieve smooth focus transitions.
Furthermore, focus-breathing reduction ensures a significant reduction of angles of view shifts when adjusting focus. This comes together with an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism, allowing the photographer to be able to exert accurate and consistent aperture control, even during high-speed continuous shooting or movie recording.
The felt-lined lens hood not only feels high-end but also contributes to delivering clear rendering by reducing light reflection inside the hood. Sections are connected with metal cutting work finishes for an even higher premium feel.
The lens information panel enables quick confirmation of aperture, focus distance, depth of field and other camera settings without needing to look into the viewfinder. To bring further system coordination efficiency and enhanced operability for stills, an increased number of functions for the L-Fn (lens function) button is also made available.
Photographers can be comfortable with bringing this light and compact lens around daily. This allows photographers to get close and personal with their subjects without being intrusive.
With dust- and drip-resistant capabilities with sealing for various parts, the lens can be reliably used in any situation. In addition, anti-fouling performance with a fluorine coat also reduces dirt and enables easy cleaning and maintenance.
