Pune: Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal’s ‘Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Vidyalay’ is starting a special course in Indian Classical Music from July – 2016. The course is available in two types viz., Basic and Diploma. Admission process will start from 15th June, and courses will commence in July first week. Duration of Basic Course is one year while that of Diploma Course is two years. There is no age bar for this course and anyone who has passed 5th standard is eligible for the course. Classes will be held twice a week at Sawai Gandharva Smarak, Shivajinagar. Separate batches for men and women students will be conducted and one can choose a time slot of one hour between 5 pm and 8 pm.
In this course, students will be taught Raga’s like Bhoop, Yaman, Bhimpalasi and will be introduced to the important components of Indian classical music such as Taal, Sur, Swarlipi, Bandish, Aalap etc. Legendary artists will also give lectures to the students during this course. Audio-visuals of renowned artists will also be shown as a part of the curriculum. Exam of 100 marks will be held at the end of the course and students will be awarded with a certificate after passing the exam.
Please note that the seats are limited and only ten persons will be allowed in each batch. Interested candidates are requested to take admission as early as possible.
